Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

I am a person who has struggled my entire life with mental health issues, but one thing that has always helped me in a number of ways is being out in nature. We travel to forests to get away from the stress of day-to-day life. Forests are a second home to us and I am so thankful for you - who works hard day in and day out to allow us to travel to that home.

7 out of 10 Americans live within a 2-hour drive of a National Forest.

I just recently learned that the National Forest Service planted 5 MILLION trees in 2023. That is unreal! Thank you for your hard work to achieve such an amazing accomplishment and to provide our world with desperately needed clean oxygen, shade cover, and beauty.

My house sits on a modest lot of land that requires regular maintenance. It brings me joy every day to take care of the grass, the trees, and the landscape. While I get exhausted at times, all I need to do is think about the National Forest Service staff who manage 193 million acres of land. WOW! You are a true inspiration.

Concrete buildings, city streets, and bright lights are what some people think of as the building blocks of a successful and powerful world. However, I believe that a growing number of people are recognizing that what makes a powerful and successful world are sky high trees, pathways of grass and groundcover, light from our sun and moon. Thank you.
