Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

The longleaf pine ecosystem is one of the most biologically diverse in North America, with an understory that can hold up to 40 plant species per square yard.

Sending a huge thank you to ALL NFF workers who tirelessly work to restore fish and wildlife habitats; plants trees in areas affected by fire, insects, and disease; improve watershed restoration; and perform forest resiliency projects. Your efforst and sacrifice are a treasure and vital to the health of our communities. THANK YOU!!

Thank you for what you do to keep our wildlife and habitats here for generations to come. I can't tell you how great it is during my daily walks to see the squirrels, deer, turtles, owls and even the biggest beaver I ever saw. It would be so sad not to have these beautiful things to share the park trail with.

Today I really learned the impact the NFF has on our environment and I have a deeper appreciation and understanding of what I can do to create a positive impact to add to your work. You do so much to ensure that we not only have what we need in nature but that nature itself can thrive in the midst of all of this. Thank you

The value of a forest was most recognized during the difficult times of COVID locked down. Everyone valued of having access to a forest. I am praying people continue appreciating a walk or a hike in our country's beautiful forest land and give gratitude's to USFS and the NFF.

Today, longleaf pine habitat exists on less than 5 percent of its historic range in the U.S. South. Planting longleaf pine on National Forests supports the expansion of this critical native species.
