Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

Dear ForestHeroes, There is a path that leads to a pond about 1/2 mile from home where I walk my dog and listen to conf calls. Today I left my buds home and paid attention; I was amazed at visual beauty of trees and shrubbery as well as the relaxing sounds of squirrels rustling to the woods and crickets serenading me. Thanks for all you do.

Moving from the South to NYC has made getting outdoors tough, but some of the best memories with my children growing up involved days in the nearby parks or camping up near Bear Mountain or hike excursions to Palisades Park in NJ, or Beach camping at Sandy Hook. Thanks for all that you do in keeping these invaluable places alive and well!

It's due to people like yourselves, who put nature first, that men like me can better appreciate their life and family. For years I have gone to West Virginia to go white water rafting and camping. I always think to myself that it's the time I spend in nature that allows me to survive the time I spend in the city. Please keep up the great work!

The forest in its quiet wisdom, had reminded me to slow down, to pay attention, to be present. The gentle warmth of the sun on my face, the refreshing coolness of a mountain spring the vibrant tapestry of colors woven by nature’s hand. This profound appreciation for the world around me, that I carry with me now, back in the bustle of everyday life

Thank you for your tireless work at keeping our national treasures clean, safe, and fun for everyone. I have been to dozens of national parks and map and compassed several in the backwoods with nothing but what I brought in a backpack (and I always walk it out!). Your job supports my love of the outdoors. We couldn't do it without you! Matt

One of my favorite adventures outside was the hike up Mount Saint Helens. We did the hike in the summer and truly enjoyed the experience. I appreciate the USFS policy to limit the number of visitors to certain areas in order to protect the environment and increase the enjoyment of nature. Thank you for caring and sharing the forests with us.
