Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

Ran 3 miles in the city of Cincinnati on June 1st, saw only a small number of trees. Then went for a walk in our local park and could not count the trees as there are so many. I realized then how important your work managing our forests is. Without you we would not be here, literally as trees provide the air we breathe. Thank you for all you do!!!!

Sometimes we do take for granted nature, and we do not stop and think about how important it is for us. I am so grateful that there are foundations like this and people that actually care and that take care of our environment. Thank you for what you do, we need more people like you!

The National Forest Foundation partners with the U.S. Forest Service to plant native species for habitat restoration and in areas impacted by wildfire, insects and disease outbreaks and other natural disturbances.

There is nothing like a walk in the woods that is beneficial for the heart and soul. For this, I thank you for your hard work and commitment to protect our forests, homes, and communities.

THE FAERY FOREST by Sara Teasdale

The faery forest glimmered Beneath an ivory moon, The silver grasses shimmered Against a faery tune.

Beneath the silken silence The crystal branches slept, And dreaming thro’ the dew-fall The cold white blossoms wept.

Your time, effort and energy you put intothe many forests across the globe is greatly appreciate. To have lively environments for animals, nature and people alike is a site to see. The same as we tend to our physical home, that same care is put into the planting of trees. Always take joy in doing it!

A single tree planted on a National Forest can store a half ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime, helping mitigate climate change.

Thank you for all of the work that you do and the effort you put into maintaining our National Parks. The National Park system is an amazing collection of gorgeous and interesting places. I'm not far from Shenandoah National Park and I spend a good amount of time there.

I grew up in a park service family and have seen raging forest fires in Yellowstone. I live in New England and it is amazing many people have never seen a forest fire. Citizens question government funding and do not realize how important fire crews are. You protect our beautiful forests but many times you are protecting people and homes. Thanks
