Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

I want to thank you for what you do for or world on a daily basis. The fact you dedicate your life to keeping our wildlife and forests safe, clean and much more means so much to me. You are invaluable to protecting our drinking water and wildlife habitats which in turn helps keep us healthier and happier. The longleaf pine ecosystem is one of the most biologically diverse in North America, with an understory that can hold up to 40 plant species per square yard.

I want to thank you for all that you do to educate us and help us realize our important interconnected relationship with the environment. You help the US population to better understand and appreciate our natural world.

Living in GA and enjoying the canopy of trees is such a beautiful sight. Realizing the journey these trees have gone through from seed to the giant firm structures is a reminder of persistence. They have weathered many storms, however the storms were used to promote growth. What an incredible reminder that life may present challenges, keep going!

I love nature and enjoy hikes near wooded areas. I hope humans hike and not leave any trash behind. It is sad to see trash when hiking. I'm always mindful to pick up trash while enjoying nature. I'm grateful it is here for us to enjoy and it sooths my soul.

Today, longleaf pine habitat exists on less than 5 percent of its historic range in the U.S. South. Planting longleaf pine on National Forests supports the expansion of this critical native species.

Thank you for the hard, and sometimes thankless, work that you do to protect our National Forests! This is a very important job that is going to help keep our beautiful land for years to come. You are very appreciated!
