Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

Thank you for protecting our forests, water supply, and natural resources. I spend many hours on trails, in parks, and fishing all kinds of state and federal bodies of water. As an avid fisherman, I can sincerely and deeply appreciate the importance of the work you do. Work that is often underrecognized and taken for granted. Thank you!

Today, longleaf pine habitat exists on less than 5 percent of its historic range in the U.S. South. Planting longleaf pine on National Forests supports the expansion of this critical native species.

I read a book recently about the hidden life of trees; the author said, "“a tree can be only as strong as the forest that surrounds it.” I consider the National Forest Foundation as part of that "forest that surrounds the tree, and supports all the trees, which are essential for life. Thank you

I can only imagine how much you must all do to maintain and protect our national forests. I see how difficult this has become over the last few years especially with the climate changes. Everytime I hear about a forest fire that is burning out of control and destorying trees it is heartbreaking. Thanks so much for all you do on a daily basis.

Recently a brush fire erupted in a field in the east part of Henrico County in Virginia. I was pleasantly surprised to learn the Department of Forestry provided support and/or resources. Goes to show how far and meaningful your reach is! Please accept my appreciation for being willing to help avoid what could have turned into a catastrophe.
