Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

The longleaf pine ecosystem is one of the most biologically diverse in North America, with an understory that can hold up to 40 plant species per square yard.

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to ensuring our forests are protected. Everyday citizens like myself tend to take for granted the work that allows us to enjoy nature.

Thank you for all your services each day preserving our livelihood for many generations to come. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. I live in an area prone to wild fires and I've seen first hand of the hard work to clear the brushes. Without your services humans and animals would suffer. I appreciate all the sacrifices to keep us all safe. TY!

Today, longleaf pine habitat exists on less than 5 percent of its historic range in the U.S. South. Planting longleaf pine on National Forests supports the expansion of this critical native species.
