Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

Keep up the great work you all are doing. It is not lost on me that many of you are dealing with unappealing weather conditions and countless hours writing grants to be able to keep sustaining our natural resources. I am glad that I will be able to take my infant son to national forests so he can learn about how our planet survives.

The National Forest Foundation partners with the U.S. Forest Service to plant native species for habitat restoration and in areas impacted by wildfire, insects and disease outbreaks and other natural disturbances.

I learned something today that kind of shocked me. I found out that 1/3rd of the nation's drinking water coming from National Forests. I had no idea thats amazing! Its so imperative the work that you all do. Your job is dangerous but its important. So thank you for protecting a huge chunk of our water source!

I know keeping our Forests free of fires is not only your responsibility but all of us. Any time we visit a national forest we need to do our part and be responsible and not cause any unnecessary fires. Here in Illinois, when my family and I visit any forest preserves we are careful not to engage in any dangerous fire activities.

A single tree planted on a National Forest can store a half ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime, helping mitigate climate change.

Thank you for all you do with keeping our Forests safe! Without you we wouldn't have our forests to visit and maintain our clean air and water. Thank you for helping improve our environment!
