Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

Thanks being in the fire lookout tower, for keeping an eye out for smoke to quickly detect fires so they can be put out before they get out of control. And thanks for the magnificent view and explaining to me what we could see from one level below the top of the tower.

Thank you for all your hard work in creating fire lines to minimize the spread of forest fires. I spent a day helping in summer of 2019 and 2021. It was beautiful being out in the forest. My body was sore after that and I am sure there are many days when you have a few extra aches and pains. Thank you.

I wanted to write this message to thank everyone for the work that you do. As someone that grew up close to the Sierra Nevadas in California I know the work that you do is very important. Spending time growing up exploring the Sequoia National Park and the surrounding areas has given me an appreciation of how precious our forests are to everyone!

My dog and I take long walks through my local woods every Saturday morning. Rain or shine, freezing or heatwave, we're out there enjoying the fresh air and the quality time together. Without your dedication and hard work to maintain and preserving these forests, we wouldn't have that time together that I know both of us truly cherish. Thank you!

A single tree planted on a National Forest can store a half ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime, helping mitigate climate change.

Our national forests are our greatest treasure. Some of my favorite memories are spending time with my family in beautiful places such as White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. Thank you for all you do to keep them safe and to preserve them for future generations.

It seems like just yesterday the Black Forest Fire destroyed 14,280 acres near my home in Monument. It would’ve been worse without the immediate response from hundreds of firefighters. Thank you for all you do. I'm blessed to live in such an incredible state with incredible people, like you, who are helping to preserve our forests!
