Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

Thank you for all your hard work managing our public forests and grasslands! Protecting and managing 193 million acres of land is an incredible public service. I'm an avid hiker, so I appreciate that you are responsibly managing the 154 National Forests under your control (the GW & Jefferson Forests are closest to me). Thanks for your service!

A single tree planted on a National Forest can store a half ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime, helping mitigate climate change.

I just wanted to thank you for all you are doing to help protect the forests. I just lost my father and the one place that is helping me is going for a peaceful walk in the woods. Without you there would be no where left to find that peace.
