Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

We invite you to share these messages of thanks from Verizon employees with your fellow wildland firefighters or any associations, clubs, groups, or teams who you believe would appreciate seeing them.

Thank you so much for your service! I'm assuming you get a lot of these letters, so I thought I'd try something a little different... I hope it brightens your day. - How do you properly identify a dogwood tree? By the bark! - Why is it so easy to trick a leaf in October? They fall for anything! - How do trees access the internet? They log on!

I live in Maryland ... one of the 10 states that do not have a single national forest! However, I live very close to Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia ... so I don't have to travel very far to enjoy these national treasures. Thank you for all you do, in whatever capacity, to preserve our national forests!

Thank you to those who run the youth programs. It has to be gratifying to see the youth get excited about something. These programs allow the youth to find their passion for our forests and grasslands. You give them an opportunity to feel and see the beauty of our land. You are preparing the future leaders to continue the much needed NFF work.

While it may seem, at times, that you can't keep up with climate change and all the devastation taking place from pollution, your work is making a difference to the precious natural ecosystems. Please keep it up! The progress is clear!

I wish to thank the NFF staff responsible for scientific research and education for the vital work they do to build upon the body of knowledge that enables living and future generations to support and maintain our national forests. The cause of science is the cause of humanity, and without you part of that cause would be lost. Sincerely, thank you!

Dear NFF Team - I grew up and spent so many endless hours 'back in the woods' as a child and wouldn't trade the quality of that play time for anything. Playing in 'cricks', catching crawfish and salamanders, climbing trees, swinging from vines. Thank you so much for all you do to support/maintain our forests for the futures and play time for all!
