Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

Forest cover in Ireland dropped from 80% to 1% by 1925 and has only recovered to 11% now. There are efforts to encourage landowners but we are still woefully short of the 18% target. I commend your efforts in protecting and restoring US forests and wildlife areas which provide so many benefits to people, wildlife and the environment. Thank You.

Trees convert carbon dioxide into oxygen and remove harmful pollutants from the air, acting as a natural air filter.

Thank you so much for everything you do for protecting a third of our drinking water from National Forests.

I once had the pleasure of seeing and hugging Redwood trees in Washington state. They were so massive and beautiful. Your efforts in keeping them safe is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

Trees hold and purify water and stabilize soils, helping creeks and rivers run clear for the thousands of communities who depend on National Forests for clean water.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, going to the park and walking my dog was the only reprieve I had from the isolation of working from home and not being open to go anywhere. It was a huge help to my mental health. This is something that you have helped thousands of people with. You should be very proud.
