Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

Today, longleaf pine habitat exists on less than 5 percent of its historic range in the U.S. South. Planting longleaf pine on National Forests supports the expansion of this critical native species.

I would like to thank everybody in the USFS. From the people out in the forests to the people "behind the scenes" making sure things get done. Our national forests are a resource that needs protecting. Not just for the environmental impacts and the life safety impacts, but also for the pure joy they provide for people.

National Forest Foundation, Thank you for all that you do. Growing up, I spent the majority of my time outdoors. Fishing, camping, and hiking were a large part of my childhood and what you do helps make sure others have areas of nature available to do the same!

I'm not sure I realized that 1/3 of our drinking water comes from national forests. That's amazing. And more reason why your work to protect our forests is so critical to our survival & the wildlife that live in the forests. Keep up the great work and know you are appreciate. Thank you!
