Thank you
U.S. Forest Service

As part of its responsible business plan, Citizen Verizon, Verizon partnered with the National Forest Foundation to thank individuals who have dedicated their professional careers to protecting America’s National Forests—the U.S. Forest Service personnel.

As the effects of climate change exacerbate wildfires and the impacts of COVID-19 spur an unprecedented increase in visitations, Forest Service staff continue to selflessly work and often put their lives in danger to ensure these public lands thrive now and for many generations to come.

In addition to sharing messages of support, encouragement, and thanks from Verizon’s employees, Verizon’s generous grant will plant 100,000 trees on National Forest lands. These native trees will help provide fresh air, clean water, and remove carbon from the environment.

We invite you to share these messages of thanks from Verizon employees with your fellow wildland firefighters or any associations, clubs, groups, or teams who you believe would appreciate seeing them.

A single tree planted on a National Forest can store a half ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime, helping mitigate climate change.

Uwharrie National Forest has become such a special place to visit for me and my family. After moving to North Carolina we were looking for new places to explore. Uwharrie was the first National Forest we visited to go backpacking and camping. Thank you for taking care of such a special place!

Greetings and thanks so much for all that you do. I have never been to the Redwood Forest. It is on my bucket list! If you could tell people one thing about the Redwood Forest, what would it be? Also, has this particular national forest been affected by the wildfires of late?

Thanks again,

Sharon L-T

Hello team,

National Forests are so important to me personally. Growing up, I spent a lot of time in the woods. When I became a mother, I passed that along to my son and enjoyed many days in the woods with him.

The gift you give us all by protecting these gems is invaluable. Thank you so much for your important work - it enhances our lives.

By planting the right species in the right places, reforestation improves forest health and helps make our forests more resilient to future challenges like climate change and wildfire.
